Every expecting and new parent needs to be informed of the existence of SUID and SIDS. The more educated and aware parents are, the safer the environment is for their baby.

There are couples of preventive measures we know about and that are common sense. (not overheating the baby’s room, not covering the baby’s head with a blanket…etc) Yet, babies’ stores are still displaying beautiful and UNSAFE cribs with pillows, bedlinen, cushions, blankets, bumpers, stuffed animals… and at the same time are actively trying to sell baby breathing tracking technology equipment, cameras and all kinds of safety-related stuff.

  • baby always sleep on her back on a firm flat surface
  • empty crib (no pillows, blankets, bumpers, wedges, and positionners)
  • breastfeeding
  • baby sleeps in parents’ room for the first 6 months, ideally for the first year
  • no co-sleeping in the same bed
  • pacifier at sleep time
  • no smoking during and after pregnancy
  • prenatal physician care
